Types of Hearing Loss

Types of Hearing Loss:

SENSORINEURAL Hearing Loss (SNHL)

SNHL occurs when there is damage to the inner ear (cochlea), or to the nerve pathways between the inner ear and the brain.

This is the most common type of permanent hearing loss.
Most of the time, SNHL cannot be medically or surgically corrected.

CONDUCTIVE Hearing Loss

Conductive hearing loss occurs when sound is not conducted efficently through the outter ear canal, to the eardrum and to the tiny bones (ossicles) of the middle ear.

Conductive hearing loss is often medically or surgically treatable.
